Проект №2. Робототехническая платформа на механум колесах Представляем вам второй проект, куратором которого будет студент высшей политехнической школы Франции ( École Polytechnique) - Gabriel Galvão . This project consists of building from scratch an omnidirectional ground robot, using Mecanum wheels. These are conventional wheels with a series of rollers attached to its circumference, which move freely around their axis. This construction allows the wheels to move not only in the usual sense, but also in any direction: By alternating wheels with left and right-handed rollers, in such a way that each wheel applies force roughly at right angles to the wheelbase diagonal the wheel is on, the vehicle is stable and can be made to move in any direction or to turn, only by varying the speed and direction of rotation of each wheel. That means that this vehicle can move sideways and even diagonally, being especially useful for load transportations in places of difficult access or with narrow openings. With the team assigned to this project, we will design, build and assemble the mechanical structure, electrical system, and the software for guidance of the robot. These will, therefore, be the three main parts of the project. A fourth and more audacious part of the project consists in implementing automatic navigation for the omnidirectional robot. This would give it the capability to decide how to best overcome obstacles using the full potential of the mecanum wheels. Join us in this project, and build a robot with the elegance and ability to go from one place to another like any other normal wheeled robot could.
